Susan Quattrochi-Tubin Fellowship

Darla Mueller, Activity Aide at HCR Manor Care (third from left). Darla's
goal is to release their inner wealth of knowledge. I want them to use a
mixing bowl and wooden spoon again.  Tap their locked up knowledge
and have them talk about old recipes and happy family times they
remember in their heads.  It makes them feel young.  It creates a bond
between us and I feel like I made a small difference in the way they felt
today.  I enjoy reaching into their minds and making them feel like they
have no limits. Let them be creative again.  Sing with them, laugh with
them and cry with them.  A fellowship, which pays full tuition cost of the
36 Hour Activity Director’s Course offered by Oakton Community College.
Cindy Gearring Memorial Scholarship

Madelyn M. Mamuri, Activity Director, The Waterford Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center (third from left).  Madelyn feels that through ATA
activity professionals gather strength by knowing that we all experience
the same challenges. ATA provides an outlet for sharing during
meetings, networking opportunities and continuing education to
enhance the leadership role of activity professionals in achieving their
goals, which is to help the residents attain to the fullest, a meaningful
life.  In winning this award, Madelyn will receive a free 2006-2007 ATA
